Wild on the Inside takes to the High Seas!

Wild on the Inside's newest commision was to design a dozen Faux Fur coats for the Silversea cruise line based on this sketch!

These coats will be dancing all over the world as they 'work' the show Abba Revival. They will be taking the stage for the song Money Money by Abba!

The coats are fitted with a rolled collar and length just below the rear end. They are all lined in an emerald satin. Creating a fitted look with Faux Fur can be challenging. To do this I took in at the waist and also eliminated the large pockets that normally grace my jackets for utility purposes. Since these coats are not for an all night jaunt on the playa it worked perfectly to give a great looking silhouette!

If you would like to see these coats in action you can jump on a Silversea Cruise line departing next month from Ft. Lauderdale, Lisbon, Athens and Hong Kong!!

Fractal Fabric and Fur... what a beautiful thing!

Wild on the Inside's latest custom creation for Cello Joe!
Its a reversible coat with lots of pockets and secret zippered pockets!
The coat is fractal fabric with fur trim on the one side and fur furry goodness on the other! Side pockets on both sides and large patch pockets that double as inside pockets AND have a hidden zippered pocket inside!
There is also a zippered hidden pocket in the cuff of the coat! It took Joe a bit to find it as only the owner knows it's there!

If you had to describe your art/clothing - how would you best describe it?

I create funky faux fur fashions that dress your wild streak. Everyone has a wild streak, whether or not they show it every day, every month or just once a year. My fashions are for those times when you want to stand out - when you want to have fun with fashion. Everything doesn’t need to be so serious.
Sometimes, just putting on something colorful, flirty and bright can change your whole outlook.
Have you always been a creative genius?

I have always been crafty. I was raised by a belief that I could do anything. So if I saw anything that I liked or admired, my mother would tell me “ We can make that”. I believed her! I am the offspring of a creative genius. I have a mother that loves costumes. She makes them in her head, cuts a piece of newspaper, holds it up to your body and a few hours later you are draped in gold lame and transformed into a Venetian Goddess… that actually happened to me when I attended the Carnivale in Venice in 96. We really stole the show!

When did you first realize that you had a fur fashion fetish?
I came to the Wild side after my first year at Burning Man. That is where the name Wild on the Inside came from. I had a Wild streak, a streak that is bold, daring and fun… it was just buried deep. The fears of not dressing appropriately to the event, what color shoes you can wear after Labor Day etc…all those rules go out the window at Burning Man. Anything goes and nothing is over the top, too outrageous etc… Once you have a taste of that freedom - you want it to be a part of your life in everything you do!

How long until you started to feel confident making fur fashions with a sewing machine and a piece of multilayer brightly colored fur?
My sewing skills have evolved, as I have evolved as a designer. Certainly, faux fur has its challenges as a fabric to sew. I discovered techniques and supplies that assist me in working with heavy fabrics and learned unique ways of cutting and sewing to ensure the long hairs of the fur stay full and fluffy. When you spend 40-60 hours a week sewing and designing.. it’s amazing how good you get!
When you walk down the runway at the end of a Fashion Show - looking at all of your creations - do you silently chant “I’m too Sexy…Too Sexy for this Fashion Show” and if not…what are you thinking?

I think to myself, I can’t believe I am here. These are all things I created!! It is a thrilling few minutes and a moment to reflect on all the hard work that goes into each item. I have a great sense of pride of
accomplishment at that moment.

With your business, what’s been your biggest accomplishment?

Wild on the Inside - Faux Fur for your Wild Streak!

Getting the publicity on TV and also in the San Francisco Chronicle. Watching the news story and reading the articles is pretty amazing. It’s like seeing it from a third person, like looking in on my life.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I see taking what I have learned and experience first hand and sharing that with other entrepreneurs. I love the ‘idea’ and helping people reach their market. That is one of the reasons I started the event series Prepare for the Playa. I want to help support people that have an idea, that want to do their own thing… to be able to do and be successful! I see a chamber of commerce type organization that offers business classes, support, counseling, marketing and networking events that all support
unique, independent, local business people making their ideas reality.
You seem to always have an insane amount of energy…Are you a Wheaties girl? What do you often eat for your breakfast to keep your energy up?… cause I’m kinda jealous.

I am a coffee girl in the morning and hit the ground running. As long as I get 9 hours sleep, I can go forever. I am one of those productivity people. I have a list with me at all times and feel accomplished as I cross things off of it. I would say I’m self motivated to the extreme. Sometimes I want to chill out and relax, but if I have a list of to dos… forget it! My mind won’t let me. I think it’s a curse and a blessing.
Sometimes I think that I’m a horrible boss (to myself) since I pretty much work 7 days a week. I am working on the Biz from the moment I get up… to when I fall down in my chair at night (even then I’m on my laptop returning emails or researching something).

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I would have to say my Mom. She has a great head for business and all the creative skills a person could want. She has been my constant support for this business and helped me out from bouncing ideas off of, selling at shows to loading and unloading! She is my inspiration, best sales person and
all around supporter and cheerleader!
My other inspiration would be my husband Merritt. He is always pushing me to be Wilder, to make things even funkier… but with a utilitarian bent. He is the Wild customer things are made for initially. If they pass the Merritt test… then I know people will like it!

I hear you have a pet lizard? Do you speak to her about your fashion designs?

Yes, Elektra is a pretty good listener, especially for leopard geckos! She does have favorite furs and designs. At the moment, she really likes the urban bomber hats. She is able to use the ear flaps to crawl up the side of the hat and perch on the top of my head. Its really quite cute. The ridges in the fur help her from sliding off and she rides around up there for a while.

Have you ever made something and was like…eh, I’ll use this as a shammy for my car before I try to sell it?

Absolutely! Designing is more of a hit or miss. I have made plenty of things that conceptually in my head are AWESOME! But once I make them up… well, not so much. I have an area of my studio that misfit toys goes to. Sometimes they are able to emerge into beautiful new designs and sometimes they
languish there forever.

If you are alone in a desert with only a scrap of pin stripe-fur and pink zebra print plush - would you
make me a skirt? (Juuuuust kiddin)

Outside of being a creative genius - what else do you have a passion for?

My other passion if for Rock Climbing. I absolutely love it. I think its perfect for the over active mind. It really helps you to focus on what is happening right now! In other sports, they allow your mind to
wonder, rock climbing keeps you in the hear and now. I love it. I have been climbing since being introduced to it in 2004. I never considered it as a sport until the first time I hit the rock. It was love at
first reach.

If you could say anything about me - and I’d never find out about it - would what you say?

I would say that Katy is full of exuberance and positive energy. She is wide open to life and does not see limitations and thinks all is possible. You go girl!

How can I be more like you? - specifically, where can others learn how to get into this type of business…
There is a two pronged approach - two sets of skills that are needed. One is the sewing skill. If you want to learn to sew, start by taking a class or by buying a simple pattern from the fabric store and start learning the basics. Then you build on it from there. The second skill is the business part of things. I would start with a book on how to start a business
and then as you go through getting legal with your sales tax, business licenses etc… start talking to others or researching. The internet is great once you have a path of where you want to go or what you
want to find out. Develop a list and start checking it off.
Then the fun part - find your market!! You may have all the licenses and business plan and all the sewing skills and product developed - but if no one sees it… well you will stay at square one forever.
That is one of the reasons I developed the Prepare for the Playa events. These events connect funky and wild business with the folks that attend the Burning Man Event. You need to find where the
your market is and then figure out where they go and where they shop!

Tell me about a few of your upcoming events and where we might find your work.

I am planning on participating in city wide events over the next few months like How Weird and Union Street festival. Wild Funky Glasses.... $30 Bucks???

Every outfit and look deserves a fun and funky pair of glasses, right??

But at $300-600+ dollars plus a pair... its hard to justify this expense more than once a year or so. A flight attendant friend of mine has been getting her glasses made in Asia for years for $20 or $30 a pair. But this price you would never find in this country... or would you??

I found a blog that was talking about one such site that creates glasses for $30 bucks a pair. The variety is amazing in the frames and free coatings, free shipping.. how could I go wrong?!

$30 Bucks for Prescription Glasses

So, I decided to try it out. Worse case scenario, I would donate the non-correct, bulky or otherwise crappy pair of glasses.

I was excited by the price and the selection of frames. The decision was tough, but I got my prescription out, shopped for the perfect frames and placed my order for 2 pairs of prescription glasses. I quickly ordered one pair of regular prescription glasses and another tinted for sunglasses.

A week went by and then via USPS I received them! I was delighted with the glasses - have I told you the price??? I couldn’t believe the quality! The glasses came with crystal Clear lenses, coated with anti-reflective, UV and anti scratch coatings.

I am such a believer I signed up as an affilate because I knew that I would be telling everyone I knew, that wears glasses, about where to get their next pair, or two... or three!

I am going to order several more pairs to have a few different looks. Heck at this price you can have one for each day of the week! My last pair of glasses cost over $300 and that was at a discounter. I chose a conservative pair that would last for several years and would go with every look I wanted to create. Now I can have funky, creative, serious, intellectual etc... to wear with whatever mood I have!

Faux Fur and Fleece Hoodie - Road Tested and PASSED!

So, I have been showing you some of my 'urban' designs. These designs you can easily incorporate into your active wardrobe!
I designed a unisex hoodie with faux fur sleeves, hood and side fur accents. The side fur also lines the pockets for a super luxurious hand warmers!
Merritt and I wore the hoodies around, traveling and of course on the rock! We love the comfort of the style - fitted at the waist. Also the hood is fur outside and fleece lined - so perfect for pulling it up to protect your head from any winds that might pick up while outside!
I also washed the hoodie and it wears and looks just about exactly the same as when it was new!

I am planning on adding these hoodies to the website and creating an Wild level: Wild, Wilder and Wildest so you can select your comfortable level of wildness! What ever you are ready for... add a little Wild to your life!!!

More Hoodies- Unisex and Cropped Variations

Hi All
The hoodie factory continues and I have a few to add to the line. I have been experimenting with the unlined versions and different hood linings. In the blue hoodie I used a lightweight lizard print while in the purple hoodie I used the purple leopard velboa and then a medium weight fur in the green. I am not sure which one I prefer and since I love offering choices to people - I will let the masses decide! These urban furs lend themselves perfectly to unlined products. The fabric has dimension with the raised fur design and also has a stiffness and thickness that make it the perfect weight for an unlined jacket.

The unisex styling of the blue tiger has side pockets and inside pockets so you can carry all your gear.

Yesterday, I created a multi-piece hoodie with black sherpa fleece! Fur and fleece are a great combination in that the fur is fun and the fleece if functional! More to come on this front and my hoodies might make a hard right turn in favor of half fleece! Great for Rock Climbing too!

Faux Fur Hoodies - Active wear for funky folks!

You are probably wondering why I haven't blogged in a few weeks... well, I've been in the great white north! I took a trip to MN for a bit of family time and to test out the warmth and effectiveness of my fur coats! The report is now in - They are Very Warm!! I never had a problem the entire time! Fur coats and fur hats kept Merritt and I toasty warm!

In the meantime, I have been back in the studio this week preparing for my next show. I will have a booth at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge down in San Jose, CA. This is a multi-day gymnastic tournament. So, in that vein, I am creating fur items for mainly teenage girls.

One of my favorite designs I have made is one that I made for myself and not for the rack or the website. It is one that I wear a lot and truly love and that is why I think the teenagers will love it as well. It utilizes the short pile fur into a long sleeve cropped hoodie. For my favorite hoodie, I used yellow leopard with an orange leopard lining in the hood.

For my new design, I used my 'urban' furs that I used for the urban bomber hats. The blue tiger stripe and instead of a short pile lining to the hood, I used a full long pile fur. It really creates a new look and new focal point. I think it changes the design and creates a whole new aesthetic. When you put the hood up - oh my goodness- the fur around your ears snuggles your head and feels oh so good!

I will be making a few of the hoodies in a full length mens/unisex size in addition to my cropped versions. I am working on the sizing and style of that one as we speak.

Special Orders - One To Be Announced

Well this week, I was busy decompressing from the Fur Con and also completing my sales tax report due to the state of California. Wow, sometimes bookkeeping can be sooo daunting!

On the positive side, I have been working on a few special orders. The first one is for a client who provided their own fur to create a waist length coat. The fur is a sliky green and cream textured and I lined it with a technicolor lizard short pile fur to add an ***POW** to the inside!

The second special order is the hooded vest in grey with black. In the lining of the hood I added 2 fabrics together. I rimmed the hood with black silver studs. It frames the face and creates real dimension.

The third project is another waist length coat. It is created with purple and pink bubble fur and the cuffs are trimmed with frosted purple. This is a custom order so my client really wanted to make a statement. We lined it in purple leopard fabric. Of course, inside pockets and a zippered closure. I can't post a picture of this coat until next week as my client reads this blog and is expecting the finished product as a surprise!!

The 'Mad Bomber' hat is started to 'move off the shelves' and two more are packed to go!

Fur Con '09 - Furlicious!!

Fur Con is a 3 day furry convention in San Jose CA. Merritt and I donned some furry ears and a tail and headed on down!
From the group shot - you can see there were 500+ participants in the furry parade! The convention had about 2500 attendees!!

This is the first convention we have participated in and we have to say it was a blast!
The people are fantastic and very warm and friendly!
We shared a table with a very talented artist and even got a sketch of Electra, our leopard gecko!
I am attaching several pictures of the event, the participants and our booth!
We have some great ideas for future shows and perhaps Merritt will even do some of his digital art! The event is very creative and art focused and there are lots of artists with many different styles. I think Merritt has been inspired! If you haven't seen his work... it is amazing and perhaps we can get him to start posting his work!!

Further Confusion- This Weekend!

I've been working the last few days on getting ready for my next show coming up this weekend in San Jose. The show is called Further Confusion. Further Confusion is one of the largest international conventions celebrating anthropomorphics in all its guises. With an attendance of over 2,400 and growing, it is one of the premiere events of its kind.

Needless to say, I have been busy incorporating tails and ears to my coats, jackets and cloakes. I will include several pictures of what I have been creating for the show.
You will see from the pictures, the ears and tails are really quite fun!

The show is 3 days and I will be sure to post some images and stories from our little adventure into furryland.
I'm going to call my weekend 'Where the Wild things are!'

Tailed and Trimmed - The shorts get the done stamp!

The shorts finished their transformation - they are not tailed and trimmed out in orange fur!

I added 2 inches of fur trim to each leg and also added the slightly stuffed and wired tail to the back of the shorts! The tail is quite unique as it seems to have a life of it's own with the wiring and also the slightly stuffed nature of it. You can bend it and form it into many different positions - depending on how you are feeling... Feeling frisky?? Feeling playful? All can be determined by the shape and bend of your tail!
I placed the tail coming out of the back of the shorts but sewed it in place inside the waistband. This way the waistband will take most of the stress on the garment and is a very strong place to secure it. I mean what would happen if someone came up to you and gave you a tug on your tail?? If it ripped your shorts out that would be a huge bummer! This way, the waist band and the strongest part of the shorts - will take the stress and all will be well in kittyland!!

When you want a slight breeze to tickle your knees, when you want to dance all night or work the dj booth til 5am... you don't need fur pants... you need fur SHORTS!!!

The newest and latest creation, as part of my custom order, is fur shorts. We decided as a design team, to go with a shorter pile black fur. A complimentary style fur and not matching. I think this will end up being more comfortable, lighter weight and easier over all to manage. It turned out to be correct!!

The black fur is more of a vintage crushed velvet style and lent itself very well to something as movable as shorts. I added front pockets, lined in orange leopard, and 2 back patch pockets totally lined. Belt loops on the front and the back with an interfaced waist band also in orange leopard.

I will be rimming the bottom of the legs in orange fur and adding a 36 inch long wide orange fur tail to the back of the shorts to add the finishing touch!

So, continuing on with my custom order - I finished the custom coat. It has velcro closures on the coat - which work perfectly with the longer furs. It makes for a quick release as well as tight closure to keep you warm!
The boot covers are a bit unique in that they have 3 inch stripes down both sides. I have to say - this is going to be a stunning outfit!
I have been working on complimentary shorts to match and made a lot of headway today. More details to follow!

Kitty ears and tails - Oh My!!

So this week I have been working on a custom order. My client and I have come together and designed an outfit that will consist of a waist length faux fur coat with hood and kitty ears. The lining is composed of several different short piled furs. Yellow leopard in the body and hood and orange leopard in the sleeves and pockets. To add another feature - I added 2 inches of orange around the hood for interest. I think it came together really well. If you know me... I would have to say orange and yellow are a delightful combination and one I have played in and with many times!!

I am also making 3 fur combination in the boot covers and a pair of faux fur board shorts. The shorts are a new item for me - so I am developing a plan on just the right style and way to make them look great - and be comfortable to wear ie. not too bulky.
I will post when I finish the shorts. In the mean time.. here are the beginnings of the lining and the kitty ears!!

AN original WIld Coat... Leopard inside and out!

In a continual advance to get my stock of long coats up and going I made yet another large coat this week. I hope to make another by the end of the week (that's Sunday in an Entrepreneurs' week ;)
This one is similar to the white one I made at the beginning of the week. It is a full length and fully lined with aqua short pile fur. I love the natural outside and the pop of color with the aqua leopard inside. It has an inside iphone/ipod pocket and another gear pocket along with the side pockets. Big furry collar and zippered closure to keep you toasty warm!

Next week, I'm going to work on a few hooded coats and I have a few great ideas for a hoodie, stretchy dress that I want to fur trim. I have this great design in my head and need to work out the 'real' world dress. Often times, things in my mind are just awesome and then when I make them and put them on... well, not so much.

Winter White Faux Fur- take the town in a vision!

So, my latest creation is my Winter White faux fur coat.
I finished this coat yesterday, all white - inside and out!
White bubble fur body with a long fur white cuffs and cozy collar.
I made this coat with a zipper - which is sometimes hard to do with fur but I trimmed down the fur bubbles near the zipper and now it glides effortlessly!
It's lined with pure white short pile fur and has two inside pockets and two oversized outside pockets!
This one is going on the Wild on the Inside rack for sale at the next event... If large is your size it can be yours!

From 1pm -7pm, guests can get all the funky, crazy gear they need and want for the desert from local burner-preneurs. The event will feature several fashion shows, live performances hourly by hoop, poi, belly dancer troupes and more.

Playa ‘U’ how to clinics will be educating new and seasoned burners on different aspects of playa living and preparation like how to build a shower, keeping your camp ‘green’, el wire lighting clinics and more!

Live music by The Zoopy Show www.myspace.zoopyfunk and several playa DJs like B. Smiley (supperclub), Murphstar (Seismic) and Shissla (House of Lotus, http://www.shissla.com/burningman.php).

Each event will have an artist benefactor and a percentage of the proceeds will be given to that artist to help bring their art installation to Burning Man. In June, the artist we celebrate will be Peter Hudson (www.hudzo.com), maker of the Homouroboros of 2007.

Featuring the designers of Prepare for the Playa - a series of Burning Man Preparation events continuing on July 22nd at Mighty 119 Utah Street in San Francisco.

The theatrical fashion show will begin at 4pm as we follow of heroine ‘Dusty Dreams’ into her Playa Dream sequence. As she fades off to sleep, she dreams of being at Burning Man 2007.

The Master of Ceremonies is the irreverent, white trash, redneck southern belle with snaggle tooth charm ‘Kiki’! She will guide us through this adventure with her particular brand of insight that is sure to entertain and delight!

The designers of Prepare for the Playa will be showing their specially made ‘playa products and fashions’ built for the desert. From day wear to those cold playa nights - the fashions show will guide us through what’s hot and what’s very, very HOT!
Faux Fur coats, hats, shrugs, fashions from the outrageous to the sublime and everything in between!

I've put together a series of events in the city over the summer that not only will be fun but a great outlet to sell your products or services!!

If you, or someone you know would like to perform or sell something let me know. It's going to be lots of fun and a great way to support the burner community!!

Here are the details:

We are putting together a series of events connecting Burners with Burner Business products and services to get you ready for the Burn! This is a unique series of events because all vendors are Burners! It will have performing artists, a Burning Man 2007 ticket raffle, demonstrations and much more!

We are looking for an eclectic bunch of burner owned/made products to make this event a total
Prepare for the Playa event. We already have interest from El wire/light toys, personal dome structures, Faux fur coats and accessories, tattoo artists, a hair scupltress, but we know there are many other unique, quirky and just cool Burner made items out there that are screaming for an audience!

We will bring the audience to you!

WILD’S LINE OF COATS HAVE LININGS THAT ARE now made from unwanted clothes and textiles. They are first cleaned, then deconstructed and lastly refashioned into your new faux fur.
These reconstructed items:
1) reduce the need for landfill space
These perfectly good textiles are used again and not simply thrown away. Their usefullness is renewed!
2) reduce pressure on virgin resources
No more materials extraction and manufacturing are necessary to get you a new garmet.

Wild: Fashion Untamed at the Met!

It seems that Wild has a historical perspective as there is a exhibit at the Met in NY covering my specialty - FUR!
It discusses the 'class access' issues dating back to the Renaissance when fur trimmed gowns were the fashion to the current fake furs that define the 'ethical woman'. As for the men, the 'fat cat' was accessorized with a hat, cigar and fur coat as a symbol of sexual and economic power.
Isn't it great that in this day and age we can all express ourselves with the freedom to wear and be what we like expressing playfulness and fun?! What are your views on this?

I have decided that I am all over the place with my blog... it isn't a place to just chat... I have to actually say something. I have given this great thought and I have decided to focus on expressing wildness in fashion. Since that is really what I am trying to do with my business, this is what I am going to do with my blog. So, this my first post of my new focused blog.
How to be wild in your fashion expression. I saw one way that the Indie Craft craze that is taking off with fashion in this 'KNIT DRESS'. I think this epitomizes the humor and fun we should all be having with clothes - total expression. Perhaps not on a daily basis but shouldn't your WILD streak come out and play once in a while?

Burning Man Outfits -People ARE Art!

As many of you know, I have gotten great inspiration from Burning Man. I have read lots and had many conversations about 'what is burning man' and why I and others go all the way out to the desert for a week a year.
Well, I have given this so much thought and to break it down into one paragraph is probably impossible but I will try. I think burning man is such a unique experience for each person. Everyone gets something different out of it because everyone puts something different into it. Now that is not to say that some people don't have similar expectations or experiences out there. It is the most open place I have ever been with people. Since the 'rules' of this experimental society are few - it is up to you to try out and be who ever you want, without judgement! This is what it is to me. There are no ways to look or ways to act. You get to do anything you want and be anyone you want. You are not defined by your job in the outside world. Our society and culture tells us a lot about who deserves respect and who does not. Those rules don't work out there because everyone is engaged in a similar activity. Camping in harsh conditions, staying hydrated in the heat of the sun, going to events, seeing art etc... It is kind of the great equalizer.

I could go on and on but will save that for another blog. This blog is about my style and my burning man style is a large part of that. The key to burning man for me is that I discovered that art isn't just something people DO. Art is who we are! Each persons expression is ART. Whether they do that through a huge piece of forged metal shaped as a man walking in the desert or as something they design to put on. The hair, clothes, dance, walk, whatever you do that expresses how you are and has your unique view on life is YOUR ART!

My expression is about having fun in clothes, not having 'fashion rules' and being free to be wild. So I thought on that note I would include some of the pictures of my outfits from BM 2006. Most of the items I designed and made!

New Short Coat Design

I have been working on a short coat design and I think I found a design that has the 3 things I was looking for. A warm wrap around collar, fitted body and a unique style touch! I lined it with a short pile purple tiger fur. It has side slant pockets to keep your fingers warm. I am going to add a ribbon or tie style closure just under the bust. I think it will add a little feminine touch. I took this picture in my studio on my cutting table so nothing fancy. I will put it on my dummy when I finish the closure so you can see the whole thing. I am going to start designing a men's jacket. I was thinking something with tails... is that corny? Either way, something unusual and unique and of course out of fur!

MacWorld and all that kind of stuff!

Well, I did forget to mention one of my passions - anything apple! It was the annual Macworld conference in SF last week and I have been going the last 3 or 4 years to see all the cool stuff and to be 'on the cutting edge' of what's going on. I have to say I was not disappointed. Before I married, I was interested in the new stuff but not quite on the edge as I am now. My husband is one of those 'in the know' kind of people. I found out about the new announcement of the biggest product to hit the market this year (do you hear the excitement in my voice!!) and called him to tell him. I heard it on NPR just an hour or two after the big speech by Steve Jobs. He already knew and he was off working in Dallas!! Like I said, he is in the know. So, the big announcement is that apple is going into the cell phone market. Not just a dabble mind you but with both feet! The new iPhone is going to be so cool and is certainly a must have. It is not due to come out until June - so that gives us all a chance to save up and get out of our current contracts! I called up to see when my contract is up with Sprint (who I will have no problem leaving) and good news is that both of our phones are 'free to go' - we will! wahoo and yippee!
So, back to Macworld. We got to take a look at this new awesome device - under glass in a museum type display. People were taking pictures like it was some type of unearthed miracle of the ages. If I haven't been there oggeling I would have wondered who these people were and what they must be thinking! I saw a picture that is exactly what it was like to be there in the New York Times that I posted above. Are you ready to join the revolution? What must it be like to have a company that people from all over just love and promote all on their own!

At parties or when meeting people for the first time the standard questions are always asked - what do you do? I think a better question would be what are you passionate about! Ask that question to the next new person you meet and you will see see their face change dramatically! It will go from an interested listening trying face to a face that lights up when talking! The eyes sparkle just a bit and the mouth opens and smiles at the peaks. I often like to stop someone from telling me what they do. As a matter of habit, most people give you the 60 second elevator speech introduction. Now don't get me wrong, that has its place in life, I understand that. But to just try to find something in common for conversation with information about what someone does for money is just plain boring. Especially since on average, most people aren't inspired by their work. I do love the times I have experimented with this and found that someone is passionate about their work and getting paid for it! Wahoo! It's like hitting a gold mine and then I am very interested in hearing all about the details and how it happened to them. So, that is one side note on my introduction to you - my blog reader. I am a rock climbing seamstress that creates wild faux fur wear that IS going to be my living!
So, I invite you on my journey of discovery on how to make my passion into a thriving cottage industry that supports me financially, feeds me creatively and allows me to be independent and that master of my own destiny!
